From humble beginnings

Born

Born and raised in a council flat in Kentish Town, North West London. Batuala grew up in a humble but joyful home. While resources were limited, his parents instilled in him a deep foundation of strong values and unshakable principles.

Moves to Gambia

Batuala and his family moves to The Gambia, a chapter of his life he credits as deeply formative. He believes the experience shaped his worldview and laid the foundation for much of the success he’s achieved today.

Moves Back to Camden

Retuning to Camden for his GCSEs at Haverstock School, Batuala struggled to find creative outlets but found his escape and protection in basketball. The court became a space of focus, discipline, and self-expression during a time of limited opportunity.

Studies at Loughborough

Uncertain about his future path, Batuala enrolled at Loughborough University to study Sports Science and Management, not because it was his calling, but because it was the most familiar option at the time. It was a decision shaped more by circumstance than clarity.

Joins Nike

After university, Batuala took the first job he applied for - working as a sales assistant at Nike Town London. What began as a simple entry-level role would become the starting point of a transformative journey that would shape his career and lead him toward his true calling.

2016

Gets Married

It was the happiest day of his life - not just because he married the love of his life, but because Franci would become so much more than a life partner. She would also become a trusted co-founder and collaborator in Batuala’s mission-driven ventures.

Takes Leap of Faith

After nearly ten years at Nike - working across retail, product, consumer experience, and marketing, Batuala and Franci made a bold decision. They left behind a comfortable, well-paid dream job to pursue something greater: their purpose and calling.

Founded Creators House

A year after founding InZone in 2020, Batuala recognised a clear gap in the creative industry - one of access and inclusion. Determined to make a difference, he invested his own money to open a multipurpose creative studio, offering it to young creatives, completely free of charge.

Gets Baptised

A defining moment where Batuala clearly understood his true calling. Getting baptised was a moment that revealed his purpose and showed him that his work is to build something that glorifies God and wholeheartedly serves others.
